intellectual freedom takes the bus (& followup)

As a followup to the Disappearing Palestine ads on TransLink issue, David Waddell and I wrote an article for the BCLA Browser entitled Intellectual Freedom Takes the Bus: What do pro-Palestine ads on TransLink have to do with BC librarians? (PDF). In the article we expand a bit on my blog post and talk about how and why it was important that BCLA wrote a letter to TransLink (PDF).

As a bit of a further followup, ads similar to the ones in Vancouver have been challenged in other jurisdictions they’ve been going up in the last few months. In Toronto, similar ads have been rejected by the TTC. Similar ads were removed but then restored in Boston recently as well.

This is something we think matters, so thanks for reading about it.
